The story goes that Charles Perrault had this castle, Chateau d'Usse, in mind when he wrote "The Sleeping Beauty". It is a shock to be driving along narrow village streets and see it pop up seemingly out of nowhere.
I couldn't resist sitting down for a coffee with this as my view. I then walked along the road and took some more shots.
Driving through the countryside I spotted a great scarecrow - it's a bird shape that moves with the wind - so realistic.
Chateau d'Azay le Rideau wasn't far. This is as much as I saw of it. I felt 8,50€ was a bit much just to take photos.
Exit from the forecourt to the town leads you straight into a busy street.
If you had a carriage, a grander entry and exit was available.
