After my ramble around the grounds of the Chateau de Cande, I decided to see if anything was left of the vide-grenier ("empty attic") at Veigne. These are flea markets/trash and treasure markets. It was still on and it was HUGE.
Do you want to see what I bought? Two bracelets - 50 cents each.
A colouring book about armour through the ages - some pages have been coloured, but at 20c a bargain.
A science text book from 1909 with line drawings - 3€.
I could not pass up this movie magazine from the 1960s, with Sophia Loren flaunting her hairy armpits! 1,50€
Hand embroidered sachet for hankies or linen - 5€
A large bag, hand embroidered by the seller's grandmother. 4€.
Some of the market was in the grounds of the old mill.
I noticed some kayakers around the whitewater from the mill.
There's a formal course marked out along the water, and serious competitors train here. It was mothers day here, plus this is the garden of France, so flowers were everywhere.
I heard a group doing a sound check and liked the sound of them - a mix of blues, folk, some blue grass and great harmonies. They were on for an hour and a half and were wonderful.
