Bibliotheque (May 10)

Today I spent some time up in a newish area of Paris, on the Left Bank, near the Bibliotheque national de France.  The library comprises four large buildings that are like open books - here are two.
An apt name for a local restaurant.
Bright art work in the area.
An undulating footbridge, named in honour of Simone de Beauvoir, connects to the right bank.
Along the Seine are a lot of boats that double as restaurants and nightclubs.  On the bank, the seating is very seaside-like.
Just across the river is the Parc de Bercy.  It is just beautiful.  I sat for a while and read here.  There are wisteria arbours,
a rose garden with scores of rose varieties and a plan showing where they are, vines, walks - gorgeous.  There's an impressive stepped fountain in the centre of these stairs.
At the top is an installation of 21 sculptures, called "Children of the World".  Here are some.
I watched some roller bladers, skateboarders and BMX riders on the under cover track.  Old boards and shoes were thrown over the girders.

The Palais Omnisport Paris-Bercy has massive grassed walls.
Speaking of grass - yay!! - I finally had some time on my balcon!!
