Books

Before I left home I bought a Nook Simple Touch because I thought it would be so much easier than lugging heavy books around, and I could easily download library books for free (unlike the Kindle).  I was also taken with the advertised battery power - lasts up to 2 months on a single charge!  Nope.  Try 2 days.  The touch part works 92% of the time - not statistically verifiable, just my feeling :-) - and Barnes and Noble seem to want to limit their customers to the US only (ie you can't even download free books from their site without a US shipping address and a US credit card!).  Aside from these quibbles I've been very happy with it.  The device and cover came to about $120, and when you compare the costs of books, well....I can also load any pdf file onto it super easily - so I've been able to cut and paste information from the internet into a document, save it as a pdf and put it straight on the Nook and take it with me.  I also have my camera manual on it.  Love that.

So what have I been reading?
Neuro-linguistic Programming for Dummies (Romilla Ready)
209 Fast Spare Time Ways to Build Zero Cash into 7 Figures a Year in Real Estate (Tyler G. Hicks)
The Airport Economist (Time Harcourt)
Petite Anglaise (Catherine Sanderson)
The Happiest Refugee (Anh Do)
And Now for Some Light Relief (Peter FitzSimons)
Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen)
Thinking in Pictures (Temple Grandin)
I'm Not Eating Any of that Foreign Muck (Brian Thacker)
Appeal Denied (Peter Corris)
Gittinomics (Ross Gittins)
Once a Thief (Kay Hooper).

And in case you thought I've gone totally to the dark side, I also read a "real" book that I bought at Shakespeare and Co.  Had to buy something, right?  It's only polite...
